I Smell After My Period. Use this as a checklist to guard against a smelly period. Youve probably found that your vaginal odor. I get the impression that you probably have some kind of infection. It could just be that some menstrual fluid is hanging around due to a heavy or thick flow.
Take a bath or shower even if youve already bathed that day. If odor is still present after your cycle you may have a vaginitis. However you should be concerned if your period blood smells fishy. Wash thoroughly to remove any fluid. No worries though – its normal. You have your period.

The reason it smells like dead fish after intercourse or around menses is that the smell is released in an alkaline environment and ejaculate and menstrual blood are more alkaline. Typically the smell will clear up on its own within a day or soor after you showerbut if it persists call your doctor. The fact that you mention that this light bleeding also causes a foul odor is particularly worrisome mind you. It takes a a few days for your period to resolve. Blood has an oder.
